Software setup
Loading of the Operating System for NVIDIA Jetson — Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with JetPack — and complete ROS 2 stack configuration, with the LiDAR, VESC and transform tree publishing on first boot.
RoboRacer Platform
The RoboRacer Core Kit eliminates complexity by delivering a fully assembled, pre-tested vehicle for 1:10-scale autonomous racing. We source, integrate, and validate all sensors and compute—including the chassis, battery, and charger—so teams can start building autonomy faster instead of sourcing and wiring hardware.
An NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super, a Hokuyo 2D LiDAR, a VESC 6 MkIV motor controller and the Ambimat AE170 power distribution board, wired onto a Traxxas Slash 4x4 chassis and built to the RoboRacer / F1TENTH specification. Software Setup / Technical Support — operating-system loading and ROS stack configuration — is a priced option.
Building an autonomous racecar shouldn’t start with weeks of sourcing parts, debugging hardware, or resolving integration issues. The RoboRacer Core Kit exists to remove that friction. We handle component selection, procurement, assembly, wiring, and validation of the entire autonomy stack—so teams can focus on algorithms, performance, and innovation. By delivering a fully assembled, pre-tested system that mounts directly onto your chosen chassis, RoboRacer enables faster onboarding, predictable performance, and a reliable foundation for education, research, and competitive autonomous racing.
Academic programs and research labs often lose valuable time and resources assembling and troubleshooting autonomous vehicle hardware instead of advancing coursework or research outcomes. The RoboRacer Core Kit addresses this by delivering a fully assembled, pre-tested vehicle, with all sensors and compute integrated and validated. Because every component is a standard, openly documented part—a Traxxas chassis, a VESC controller, a Hokuyo scanner, an NVIDIA Jetson module—the platform stays flexible while significantly reducing procurement complexity, setup time, and technical risk. Faculty and procurement teams benefit from predictable performance, faster deployment into labs or classrooms, standardized platforms across cohorts, and reduced dependency on specialized hardware integration expertise.
What is the RoboRacer Program?
RoboRacer is an international community of researchers, engineers, and autonomous systems enthusiasts. It aims to foster interest, excitement, and critical thinking about the rapidly growing field of autonomous systems and robotics. Through collaboration between academic institutions, engineers, and innovators, RoboRacer enables teams to develop, test, and improve autonomous racing technologies on standardized platforms.
The programme is widely known by its earlier name, F1TENTH — its open-source ROS 2
packages and the f1tenth_gym simulator are still published under the
f1tenth GitHub organisation, and its head-to-head Autonomous Grand Prix events run alongside
robotics conferences such as IEEE ICRA and IROS. Building to that shared 1:10-scale specification is what
lets code, maps and published results move between institutions.
Ambimat Electronics in collaboration with global research partners has designed the Power Supply board for autonomous racing systems.
What’s in the box
Every item arrives mounted, wired and tested together as one vehicle — not as a box of components to integrate.

Commercial
The kit, Software Setup / Technical Support and shipping are priced as separate line items. GST applies to the Indian figures and is not included in them.
Quoted in INR. Every figure below excludes GST.
The INR 48,000 difference is the price of Software Setup / Technical Support. It is not a different or reduced kit: both options include the complete RoboRacer Core Kit, including the Traxxas chassis, compatible battery and corresponding battery charger. Flat-rate shipping to any destination within India is charged separately at INR 4,500 + GST and is not included in either kit price.
At INR 580,000 + GST the vehicle is supplied for customer-managed software setup and integration: the Jetson is supplied without the operating system flashed, the ROS stack and the LiDAR and VESC drivers are not configured, and the 60-day remote technical-support period is not included. Teams who prefer to build and own their own software stack choose this option.
Quoted in USD (without battery & charger). Shipping is a separate flat rate.
The approximately US$5,175 figure is indicative only. It is US$5,639 less a discount of approximately US$464; the discount is an approximation and the final quotation controls.
Software Setup / Technical Support is not included in the US$5,639 kit price. The vehicle is supplied for customer-managed software setup and integration: the Jetson is supplied without the operating system flashed, the ROS stack and LiDAR and VESC drivers are not configured, and the 60-day remote technical-support period is not included. International customers who require Software Setup / Technical Support can purchase the RoboRacer Core Kit Pro (with Software Setup / Technical Support) for US$6,100.
International quotations are supplied on FOB terms. Ambimat does not pay destination customs-clearance charges, import duties, local taxes or related destination charges. The applicable FOB location and full commercial terms will be confirmed in the quotation.
International shipping for a Core Kit-only order is US$500, and that charge covers shipping only. Destination customs clearance, import duties, local taxes and related destination charges are the buyer's responsibility, not Ambimat's. A Power Board-only order ships for US$65, and a Core Kit ordered together with Power Board(s) ships for US$565. Orders containing more than one Core Kit are shipped on a quoted rate. The Ambimat shipping policy is authoritative.

Questions
RoboRacer is an international community of researchers, engineers and autonomous systems enthusiasts built around 1:10-scale autonomous racing — the programme widely known by its earlier name, F1TENTH. RoboRacer is also the name of the autonomous racing platform Ambimat Electronics builds for that specification, sold as the RoboRacer Core Kit.
An NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super compute module, a VESC 6 MkIV motor controller, a Hokuyo 2D LiDAR, the Ambimat AE170 power distribution unit, a Traxxas Slash VXL 4x4 chassis, an MDF base plate, a 3S lithium-polymer battery and a charger — all assembled, wired and tested together. Loading of the Jetson operating system, complete ROS stack configuration and 60 days of remote technical support make up Software Setup / Technical Support, which is included in the INR 628,000 + GST option.
They describe the same platform lineage. F1TENTH is the 1:10-scale autonomous racing project the
community grew from, and its open-source code still lives under the f1tenth GitHub
organisation; RoboRacer is the name the community and its Autonomous Grand Prix events now use. The
RoboRacer Core Kit is built to that shared vehicle specification, so community code runs on it without a
hardware redesign.
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with NVIDIA JetPack, which brings CUDA, cuDNN and TensorRT, and ROS 2 Humble Hawksbill.
Where Software Setup / Technical Support is included, the LiDAR and VESC drivers are already configured
on delivery. Teams build with colcon, write nodes in rclpy or
rclcpp, visualise in RViz2 and record runs with ros2 bag.
